Mobile Marketing

Having a mobile phone not a weird and surprising sight anymore.

In fact, there are about 3.8 billions of people are using a smartphone(s).

Fun fact: the first smartphone is released in 1992.

People are now relied on their mobile phone; bringing it everywhere, even to the toilet at home. Therefore, it is a very personal item that companies can use to market to many people.

With this statistic, we are safe to assume that mobile phone is one of the closest way for companies to tackle on in order to market closer to people.

There are 6 types of Mobile Marketing📱:

1.Mobile Ads

“How do free applications earn money to continue their applications or develop more applications?”

There are companies who are willing to pay a certain amount to applications, mostly free games on mobile device to get their advertisement banner on them. By doing this, users are “forced” to view the advertisement and in return they are entitled to their free games or applications on the mobile.

Best example to me: Spotify and Flappy bird

2.Mobile Coupons

One of the most common user of mobile coupons mobile marketing is McDonald’s. They normally give out in-app coupon to their app users for special deals. By doing this, McDonald’s can encourage users to collect the special deals and maybe buy their food together instead of having to think of what to eat for their meal. The marketing technique can also encourage people to download their application for future deals. Extra marketing effort is not needed when people have downloaded their application.

3.Mobile Websites

This is where companies create their website mobile friendly for people to view using their mobile devices. It does not require any adjustments as the website is custom made to fit the devices. It is easier for the audience to explore.

4.Mobile Apps

As mentioned above, mobile apps are well used by McDonald’s. It makes the purchase and viewing easy for the consumers.

5. Location Based Mobile Marketing

This technique is the least common as it requires consumer’s permission to get their location service. After the consumer approve on the location details, they will be able to receive notifications about nearby deals and promotions.

6. Mobile Payment

This technique enable consumer to use their mobile devices to pay for their purchase even at the physical store in town. It would make the purchase easy as they do not have to search for their wallets in the bag and put it back after the purchase. The process can be as easy as scanning the QR code or tapping the mobile device at store’s register.

Does all the Mobile Marketing techniques look familiar?

Yes, they are all very common and easy to spot nowadays as we consumers are always on our mobile devices, therefore, the chances of seeing companies’ marketing on our mobile devices is very high, which makes mobile marketing a very successful strategy for the companies. 👍🏻

  1. One of the best mobile marketing I’ve seen thus far is by Charles and Keith, once you visit their app and you tap a product or two, they will subtly advertise it to you (quite occasionally) reminding you to purchase from them with the title “still thinking about this?”
It’s non aggressive and it’s providing us with good consumer service. Go check their website out and u will get what I mean!
