The Dark Side

Have you ever taken a test to prove that you are not a robot? The test comes in scribble words, photos and just a checkbox like the one on top.
This normally happens when you’re registering an account or posting online. It is a form of security to prevent bots from ‘messing’ the system. Eg. creating thousands of bot accounts to follow yourself on Instagram.
Yes. There are people who do that. It’s an ethical issue that companies are facing nowadays.
‘Influencers’ on social media are buying followers from anonymous companies that mass create bot accounts. The accounts will eventually be removed by Social media companies like Instagram but it still work for a good period of time to ‘trick’ sponsoring and paying companies to advertise on the ‘influencers’ profile.

The more followers, the more you get paid for advertising.
Privacy

Have you ever feel like you are being spied?
Like.. How does Lazada knows i was looking for this dress? How does Wish know that i was looking for deals?
You are indeed being spied. Technology being so advanced, companies are actually able to use your data to track on your every movement on your phone, as long as it is connected to the internet.
There are many ways that your privacy is being exposed. You might not be ‘worthy’ enough for hackers to expose it but they will collect your data to sell it to companies all around the world.
Who knows? maybe one day you saw something on the street and thought to yourself that you might need one of that and boom, it appeared the moment you open your Facebook application, it’s right there asking you if you want to add it into your cart on the advertisement section.
